He brings expertise in retinal detachment repair, macular surgery, diabetic eye disease, and intravitreal injection therapy. Dr. Abousamra is committed to providing each patient with personalized, compassionate care guided by the latest evidence-based treatments.

Dr. Zafrullah is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon with expertise in diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease, and minimally invasive vitrectomy. A Tampa Bay native, he completed both medical school and residency at the University of South Florida before pursuing advanced fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He is deeply committed to the community he has long called home.

Your First Visit

New patients are seen promptly — often the same day for urgent concerns. At your visit, you will receive a comprehensive dilated retinal examination. Depending on your condition, additional imaging such as OCT, fluorescein angiography, or fundus photography may be performed. Our physicians will review all findings with you in detail and outline a clear treatment plan.

  • Photo ID and insurance card(s)
  • List of current medications and known allergies
  • Any prior eye records, imaging, or operative reports
  • A driver — your pupils will be dilated for the examination
