Tampa Retina Institute is led by two fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeons with deep roots in the Tampa Bay community. Both completed subspecialty training at nationally recognized programs and are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of surgical retinal care.
Dr. Abousamra is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in complex surgical and medical retinal disease. He brings expertise in retinal detachment repair, macular surgery, diabetic eye disease, and intravitreal injection therapy. Dr. Abousamra is committed to providing each patient with personalized, compassionate care guided by the latest evidence-based treatments.

Dr. Zafrullah is a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon with expertise in diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease, and minimally invasive vitrectomy. A Tampa Bay native, he completed both medical school and residency at the University of South Florida before pursuing advanced fellowship training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He is deeply committed to the community he has long called home.
